HOME The 4am Quilter

Hi my name is Angela Davis and I am the 4am Quilter. Just to give you a little history about myself and how I got started quilting… we have to look back to 1991 the year before I got married. There was a little shop in our area that sold quilt fabric and supplies as well as other needle arts supplies. I had already been crocheting for a number of years and I wanted to learn how to make a quilt.. this shop had a beginner class that when completed you would end up with a block sampler.  Each block teaching a different technique in hand piecing and hand appliqué.  I was very excited to learn and by the 7th week my quilt top was finished, basted and ready for hand quilting. Well with the wedding just around the corner,  I set it aside to take care of all the last minute wedding preparations and setting up a new apartment for myself and my new husband. Needless to say,  that quilt ended up in the shelf in my closet for about 2 years before I finally got it out and finished it.. it has since faded and been mended a few times but it is still a sweet little lap size quilt. Well much has happened since 1999. Jeff and I have three children, two young adults and one still in high school who are all doing well and have bright futures ahead of them.. although their father and I are no longer together, we are still a family and I cherish them dearly. The 4am Quilter came about first as a YouTube Channel called Quilting In The Basement but I decided to change the name since The 4am Quilter aptly describes my routine much better. I don’t use the basement as my sewing room because I have taken over a spare room in my house and it is highly functional for my quilting and sewing.
